Wren Kitchens is a leading British designer, manufacturer, and retailer of fitted kitchens and bedrooms. With more than 7,000 employees and over 110 showrooms across the UK and Ireland, Wren delivers affordable luxury to both domestic and contract markets.
As part of its commitment to sustainability and achieving net zero by 2030, Wren recognised the importance of having robust, transparent data to support its environmental goals. To strengthen its reporting and guide long-term strategy, Wren sought to independently verify its operational carbon footprint, a key step in embedding sustainability into its business operations.
Challenge and Opportunity
Wren faced the challenge of accurately measuring and validating its operational carbon footprint across scopes 1, 2, and 3. Given the complexity and scale of its business, spanning manufacturing, logistics, retail, and product lifecycles, this required external technical expertise and rigorous data management.
The company’s goal was to achieve transparent, high-quality Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting that could withstand external scrutiny and ensure a reliable foundation for its existing net zero roadmap. However, managing and assuring such wide-ranging emissions data internally posed significant resource and accuracy challenges. Partnering with an external expert offered an opportunity to enhance credibility and accuracy of the process.
Approach & Solution
Wren partnered with 5D Sustainability to bring structure, clarity, and assurance to its ISO 14065–assured verification process.
5D Sustainability provided hands-on support to Wren’s internal teams, supporting data collection, data cleaning, and project management across complex operational datasets. 5D Sustainability delivered a high-quality, verified GHG footprint, covering a full scope 3 assessment across emission sources, including sold products.
5D Sustainability’s support has enabled transparent, accurate measurement of Wren’s emissions, aligned with both GHG Protocol and UK Government standards, establishing a clear, repeatable process for ongoing reporting. The success of the initial engagement has so far led to an extended second-year partnership, focused on continuous refinement and re-verification of data.

The verified results validated Wren’s baseline reporting for UK and Ireland operational emissions, enabling confident, data-driven decision-making to support its carbon reduction strategy.
